How to Make Halloween Frankenstein Luminary Jars

!: How to Make Halloween Frankenstein Luminary Jars

Halloween is a festival celebrated around the world on October 31 every year. On this day, people disguise themselves into scary and spooky characters to keep evil spirits at bay, as per the ancient beliefs. Therefore, the surroundings and the houses are decorated with these frightening characters, the popular one being the legendary monster from the movie Frankenstein. The horror movie as well as the name Frankenstein is based on the novel by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein's monster was portrayed as a creature filled with hatred, having murderous intentions. The luminary jars based on this creature can impart an interesting angle to your Halloween décor. We are providing here some easy steps to make these jars.

Things required:
• Old unwanted cans
• Empty glass or pet jars
• Glass paint of different colors, such as green, white, and black
• Paint brush of different sizes
• Black cardboard sheet
• Scissors
• Glue stick

Steps to make Frankenstein Luminary Jars:

• Jar painting: First, take a clean & dry empty glass jar and paint evenly the entire jar in green color, using a broad sized brush. Green paint is preferred since the Frankenstein monster is believed to be of this shade. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

• Eyes: In the upper half of the jar, with black paint, draw an outline of two ovals, vertically adjacent to each other. Fill up the interior of these ovals completely with white paint. Draw a circle in the lower portion of each of these ovals and color them black to make large eyeballs.

• Nose: At the center of the jar, draw a white colored blob below the eyes. Keep the size of the blob smaller than that of the eyes. This is the nose.

• Lips: Just below the nose, draw lines in horizontal, saw tooth pattern. The size should be commensurate with that of the eyes and nose. This structure represents lips.

• Hair: Cut a strip of black cardboard sheet with its length corresponding to the circumference of the jar. With a scissor, make a cut in the strip at one end, leaving the other side intact, as we do in the case of pom-poms. The intact end is glued onto the rim of the jar such that the shredded end would represent the hair of the monster.

To illuminate the jar, battery operated candles can be placed inside the jar. The surrounding light can be switched off to allow the jar to glow for a spooky look.
